Prior
to the decision by Eidos
plc to port development of the Tomb
Raider franchise to Crystal Dynamics, former
Lara Croft
architects Core Design were working on their own
commemorative edition of Tomb Raider to celebrate
10 years of Lara Croft. While this version of
the game was subsequently canned when Core Design
were disbanded, a steady flow of media showcasing
the work has been forthcoming.
Finally,
we can bring you an inside look at Core Design's
Tomb
Raider 10th Anniversary Edition video-game,
including conceptual artworks from two of the
leading designers working on the game, James Kenny
and Carl Yellot-Bilby, and a first look at the
official
trailer that would have spearheaded a promotional
campaign ahead of the game's release.
Crystal
Dynamics have admirably stepped up to the
plate and completely rejuvenated the Tomb Raider
series, developing both the critically acclaimed
Tomb Raider
Legend and their own Tomb
Raider Anniversary adventure, based on the
original Core Design video-game from 1996.
Even
though Core Design are no more, fans can still
celebrate the work and momentum that the Derbyshire-based
developers brought to the table, while at the
same time look ahead at the dawning of a new era
for Lara Croft in Tomb
Raider Underworld.
