Eidos Interactive, one of the world’s leading publishers and developers of entertainment software, has reached an agreement to acquire the business of award-winning mobile and casual games developer, Morpheme Wireless Limited.

Expanding Eidos' New Media division, the deal will see Eidos employ Morpheme’s eight members of staff and acquire the assets of the North London based company.

"We’ve worked with Morpheme on a number of successful games already, so we know how well we work together," said Simon Protheroe, New Media and IT Director at Eidos. "It’s great to have Matt and his team on board in a deal which fully complements our existing development resources."

Morpheme is a BAFTA and Develop award winning developer of mobile and casual PC games, having already successfully developed a number of titles for Eidos New Media including; Hitman on mobile phone and Prism: Light the Way on mobile phone and PC download.

"This is a really exciting opportunity for both Morpheme and Eidos," said Matt Spall, CEO Morpheme Wireless Limited. "It will allow us the opportunity to take our experience, talent and creativity and elevate it to the next level and to a much wider consumer audience."

The acquisition of the Morpheme business follows the recent acquisitions of mobile development and content providers specialist Rockpool Games and online distribution specialist, Bluefish Media.
