[ 27 September 2006 ]

Lara Croft Tomb Raider - the first in a planned trilogy of motion pictures based on the adventure game of the same name - has released on Sony Blu-ray Disc across North America. The Angelina Jolie-helmed film is priced 29.99 USD and comes with a free box to protect the disc from scratches and other erroneous spoiling.

Blu-ray Disc (BD) is a next-generation optical disc format designed for high-density storage of high-definition video and data. It is currently competing with the HD DVD format for wide adoption as the preferred next generation optical standard.
