Former
Tomb Raider
caretakers Core Design have today confirmed the
much touted Tomb Raider: 10th Anniversary Edition
video-game primed for Sony PSP has been cancelled
by SCi Entertainment
and has addressed a leaked video which appeared
on the internet last week.
"The
video of Tomb Raider: 10th Anniversary Edition
that appeared on certain sites was an unauthorised
release of an internal presentation of a game
that was being developed by Core Design until
very recently. It was running on PSP and used
a Core-developed engine. However, following a
recent review this project has been officially
cancelled by SCi."
However,
sources have suggested Crystal
Dynamics will continue to press ahead with
a Tomb Raider / Tomb
Raider II remake with original Lara
Croft architect Toby Gard leading the project.
In other
related news, Rebellion has confirmed the purchase
of Core Design from owners Eidos is now complete.
Although Eidos will retain the Core Design name,
the studio, its assets and workforce will begin
trading under Rebellion (Derby) Ltd.
