Danish
archaeologists have unearthed the remains of an
ancient Iron Age woman while excavating a graveyard
in a suburb of Copenhagen, Associated
Press reports. "What we find interesting is
her bones are well-preserved and she had jewellery
- glass pearls and a metal chain - which could
indicate that she was wealthy," said Tom Giersing
of the Kroppedal Museum in Taastrup.
In archaeology,
the Iron Age is the stage in the development of
any people where the use of iron implements as
tools and weapons is prominent. The adoption of
this new material coincided with other changes
in past societies often including differing agricultural
practices, beliefs and artistic styles.
