Cambodian officials have granted citizenship to Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie in recognition of her work in the region on behalf of UNHCR. Jolie, who filmed in Cambodia while shooting Lara Croft Tomb Raider, also adopted a baby boy in 2002 and has donated two million dollars in aid.

A legal document seen by AFP and signed by King Norodom Sihamoni "provides Cambodian nationality to Angelina Jolie, an American born on June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, USA."

Toun Siphan, director of the government's international relations department said: "She was so happy, she loves Cambodia and wants to help. She said she would come to Cambodia when she received her citizenship."
