Academy
Award winner Angelina Jolie will lend her considerable
charitable clout to Sir Bob Geldof after agreeing
to campaign on behalf of Live 8 to eliminate Third
World debt and rewrite trade laws, according to
WENN.
The Tomb Raider
star, who is also an ambassador for the United
Nations High Commission for Refugees, will help
the former singer drum up support.
An estimated
50,000 people in Africa die unnecessarily every
day as a result of extreme poverty. Sir Bob Geldof
hopes to turn the heads of World leaders during
the G8 summit in July. According to Geldof, leaders
from the industrialised nations could eradicate
Third World poverty in "moments."
A colleague
of Jolie's said: "Angelina won't just be putting
her name to Live 8, she's also agreed to sacrifice
a considerable amount of time for us, which is
pretty much unheard of for a Hollywood star. She's
been talking for some time about taking a break
from films and we're delighted to be the ones
to benefit from it."
