Brad Pitt and newly anointed Academy Award winner Cate Blanchett have been tapped to star in Babel, according to entertainment magazine Variety. Pic comprises of four interwoven stories set in Morocco, Tunisia, Mexico and Japan. No futher details have been announced.

Brad Pitt will next be seen opposite Angelina Jolie in Doug Liman's Mr & Mrs Smith, charting the lives of a bored married couple surprised to learn that they are assassins hired to kill each other. Following on from her success as Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator, Cate Blanchett will next appear on screen in Rowan Woods' Little Fish.
