VOIGHT RINGSIDE AS COSELL

Oscar-winning actor Jon Voight has signed to play the late Howard Cosell in Columbia Pictures' big-budget biopic "Ali" for director Michael Mann and producer Jon Peters. The project starts shooting today with Will Smith in the title role. The careers of Cosell, who died in 1995, and Muhammad Ali were intertwined as much of Cosell's early television work revolved around the heavyweight champion.

Voight recently wrapped a role in Paramount Pictures' "Tomb Raider," which stars his daughter Angelina Jolie in the lead role of Lara Croft.
