EIDOS ON VERGE OF SALE TO NEWS CORP

Eidos may have finally acquired a buyer for the company following a report leaked yesterday by www.gamesindustry.biz that media tycoon Rupert Murdoch may be readying a foray into the video-game business with the acquisition of the London-based publisher. GI reports this morning that sources within Eidos have confirmed the company is on the verge of being sold to Rupert Murdoch's media empire News Corporation, with the deal expected to be announced within the coming week.

"We're just really glad the News Corp thing is out in the open now," a source at the company told GI this morning. "Keep an eye on it over the next week," he continued. "It could happen on Thursday, it could happen on Monday - we're not sure, but there's light at the end of the tunnel now."
