[ January 12th 2005 ]
Belgian
telco Belgacom has upgraded its ADSL service in
a move to boost customer numbers. The operator,
which already has over one million broadband subscribers,
is increasing download speeds across the entire
range of ADSL services, except for its ADSL light
service, as one of a series of many improvements.
In addition
to speed increases Belgacom is making some key
changes in terms of its content proposition to
consumers. It is launching a web site where users
can download such games such as Tomb Raider, gain
access to content from the UEFA Champions League
and offering users a Music Club where users can
compile CDs and watch concerts.
The Belgian
ISP is also launching a new metered ADSL service
this month, called Belgacom ADSL Time, where customers’
pay for their usage of the Internet based on time
online. The service has a low entry cost and is
aimed at infrequent users of Internet services.
