The Aussie contingent may have gone home empty-handed from the Emmy Awards in La La Land but the day wasn't a dead loss for those stuck here in Sydney. About 100 invited guests were treated to a touch of Hollywood tzusjing at the Establishment ballroom, with make-up artists, manicurists and masseuses on hand to kickstart the week in a refreshingly unusual way.

Guests at the Fox8/NW brunch bash tuned in to all the red carpet and awards action while chomping on donuts, berry muffins and smoked salmon. And if those Hollywood types thought they had a goodie bag with their fancy schmancy day spa vouchers, diamond jewellery and flat-screen televisions, they'd be green with envy to know what Sydney's Emmy revellers took home.

American actress Rhona Mitra, star of both The Practice and Boston Legal, is a bit of an Ian Thorpe fan. When it came to selecting the jewellery for her Emmy Awards outfit, she wore an Autore pearl bracelet upon learning it had been designed by the Thorpedo. Mitra says she likes Thorpey's "bohemian style".
