ION Storm's
Warren Spector and BioWare's Ray Muzyka are to
deliver keynote addresses at the European Developers'
Forum this September in London, headlining a programme
which features a range of speakers from around
the world. The EDF event runs alongside the European
Games Network trade show and Game Stars Live consumer
show in London's ExCeL conference centre from
September 1st to 3rd, and is backed by UK developer
trade body TIGA along with a number of other international
developer associations.
The three-day
event programme includes a wide range of high
profile speakers from both the USA and Europe,
and promises to be a "hard-core technical conference"
which will focus on technical, artistic and production
aspects of development rather than solely on the
business side of the industry. "The focus of EDF
is very much on the hands-on game developer,"
confirmed Kuju Entertainment's Jeremy Longley,
chair of the EDF steering committee. "We have
speakers who will tackle the practical day-to-day
issues facing every member of a development studio,
not just the strategic business concerns. It's
about these issues, the future and the challenges
we all face in the development industry."
Two days
of the conference will be devoted to development
related issues, while a third day will feature
a stream devoted entirely to mobile game development
and content - with mobile sector specific speakers
from many key companies, including mobile operators,
already lined up.
