Model
Nell McAndrew today joined England 1966 World
Cup hero Gordon Banks to show off Butlins' new
Redcoat uniforms. The pair posed for pictures
in the London sunshine as the holiday company
displayed two new uniforms - one formal and one
casual. The formal uniform comprises the famous
Redcoat jacket, which has been re-tailored and
is now accompanied by black trousers with matching
red stitching or a shorter black skirt. Under
the jacket, the Redcoats will wear a plain skinny-fit
white T-shirt with the Butlins logo.
The casual
outfit consists of a red overcoat and matching
combat trousers. A white and red lightweight football
T-shirt has also been designed. The new look is
designed to reflect the evolving role of the Redcoats
who today are trained as football coaches, circus
entertainers, art teachers and even pottery instructors.
Butlins
shunned famous fashion designers who had been
used in the past and instead invited fashion students
across the UK to design the new uniforms. Final
selection was made by the British Fashion Council
and the Redcoats.
