Eidos plc has confirmed Lara Croft will not be making an appearance at this years E3 expo. Although an early build of Tomb Raider 7 had already been mobilised by new developer Crystal Dynamics, Steve Starvis - Eidos' head of communications - dismissed an E3 debut, stating that the game will be showcased "when the product is ready." Both Eidos and Core Design incurred a critical mauling the last time Lara Croft made an outing to the trade show and it would appear this time round Eidos are bent on refining one of their most potent franchises before revealing all.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is the world's largest trade event exclusively dedicated to showcasing interactive entertainment and educational software and related products. Now in its tenth year, E3 2004, kicks off at the Los Angeles Convention Centre May 11 - 14. Conferences are held May 11 - 13 and the show floor is open May 12 - 14.
