Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie has spoken out over comments made by estranged father Jon Voight criticising her methods at raising her adopted son Maddox in a recent television interview. Jolie, whose much publicized rift with her Oscar winning father Voight began shortly after the duo filmed the Paramount video-game adaptation Lara Croft Tomb Raider, was said to be enraged over his comments.

"He said some very ugly things to me about what he thought I was like as a person and how I was conducting my life." She continues: "This is a person who, for the most part, has either been absent from my life or creating a lot of ugliness in it. And even though he is related to me, I don't have to listen to what he says. I don't have to care. And I don't have to have him in my life."

Jolie, 29, has just completed filming Taking Lives and will begin shooting the Doug Liman pic Mr. and Mrs. Smith later this year. The press have been ardently speculating on the mystery suitor Jolie recently revealed she had acquired. Former husband Johnny Lee Miller and co-star Colin Farrell have both been dismissed by Jolie, who parted from second husband - actor and director Billy Bob Thornton - in 2002 shortly after the couple adopted Cambodian-born Maddox.
