Booming
sales of its Hitman 2 and Timepslitters 2 games
enabled Eidos to report its first profit for almost
three years in the six months to December. Chief
executive Mike McGarvey said Hitman and Timesplitters
had each sold more than a million units and helped
the group swing from a loss of £2.25m to a profit
of £6.67m. Sales rose from £70m to £89m., Sharecast
reports.
McGarvey
also confirmed that two of Eidos's best known
games, Tomb Raider and Championship Manager, will
launch new editions in the second half. "Championship
Manager 4 and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness
will be released by the end of March and early
in the fourth quarter respectively, he said".
He added he is confident of hitting City forecasts
of pre-tax profits of about £14m for the full
year to June.
