Actress
Angelina Jolie, whose love of the macabre has
filled the tabloids, is set to howl at the moon
in Bitten, a movie about a female werewolf. The
project is based on a novel by Kelley Armstrong,
which Warner Bros. optioned on the basis of a
treatment by Alexander Stuart, who will also write
the script.
Jolie
will play a woman who turns into a werewolf after
she gets bitten and lives among a clandestine
wolf pack in Canada. She finally decides to suppress
her animalistic tendencies for a normal human
life, becomes a journalist and falls in love.
She is drawn back to her pack, though, when a
rogue band of werewolves begins drafting criminals
into its pack.
The novel
has some of the mythological wolf angst presence
in films like Wolf and An American Werewolf in
London. Jolie is currently starring in Tomb Raider
2: Cradle of Life for director Jan de Bont and
is then expected to follow with the Warner Bros.-based
drama Taking Lives.
