Eidos
Interactive has had its new ad campaign banned
from nine major networks after the broadcasters
deemed the content too hardcore for their audience.
VH-1, MTV, MTV 2, TNN, UPN, ABC Sports, Comedy
Central, Sci-Fi all refused to transmit the Hitman
2: Silent Assassin commercial forcing London based
video-games publisher Eidos back to the cutting
room. According to various press statements, the
networks said the new commercials "glorified violence"
and the title "looked a little too realistic to
be a game."
Hitman
2: Silent Assassin is the follow-up to the BAFTA
award nominated Hitman: Codename 47. Players enter
the mind of a genetically engineered assassin
Codename 47, whose deadly efficiency is now needed
more than ever. Created by Io Interactive and
published by Eidos Interactive, the game is available
on PC, PS2 and XBox.
