U.K. special effects house Mill Film named Karl Mooney as the company's managing director Aug. 27. He replaces Antony Hunt, MD of The Magic Camera Company, which was acquired by Mill Film in 1998.

Model and motion control work for the upcoming Harry Potter and Harrison Ford's K-19: The Widowmaker were completed at Mill Film's Shepperton location. Mooney, a founder director of Mill Film who has served as the firm's visual effects supervisor on both Tomb Raider and Potter, will report directly to CEO Robin Shenfield.
