Scottish actor Gerard Butler has scored a role opposite Angelina Jolie in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Cast as Terry Sheridan, Butler will assist Jolie in her mission to rid the world of high-tech espionage despite carrying a romantic torch from their previous turbulent affairs. The 33-year old Glasgow-born graduate's recent silver-screen outings include Time Line opposite Andre Marek and the Wes Craven helmed horror Dracula.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life chronicles the adventures of British aristocrat Lara croft sent on a perilous mission to rescue the world from the exploits of an evil Chinese crime syndicate led by oriental crime lord Chen Lo. The movie opens with an explosive underwater action scene involving a desperate struggle for a sacred ancient spear guarded by Chen Lo's evil henchmen and a mission to overthrow new villain Reiss from deploying an army of biological drones to wreak havoc on the world.
