New Zealand born Street Legal actor Manu Bennett has landed a screen test opposite Angelina Jolie for a part in Paramount Pictures upcoming Tomb Raider sequel, The Cradle of Life, Stuff Magazine reports today. The 33-year old former Shortland Street actor will read for helmer Jan de Bont during a casting session in London later this week. "Manu was very excited about doing the screen test," says a friend, "moviemakers can't get enough of Kiwis at the moment. We think he's got a good chance."

Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life chronicles the adventures of British aristocrat Lara croft sent on a perilous mission to rescue the world from the exploits of an evil Chinese crime syndicate led by oriental crime lord Chen Lo. The movie opens with an explosive underwater action scene involving a desperate struggle for a sacred ancient spear guarded by Chen Lo's evil henchmen and a mission to overthrow new villain Reiss from deploying an army of biological drones to wreak havoc on the world.
