ACE IN THE PARK

Gamecube
owners rejoice! Hot on the heels of the announcement
of the first Eidos game to hit Nintendo’s top
new machine - TimeSplitters 2 - comes the news
that a second title is on the way and it could
prove to be the perfect alternative to the all
action, adrenaline fuelled blast of time hopping.
A leisurely stroll around the golf course, taking
in the sights, sounds and smells of the great
outdoors is about as far removed as you can get
from TimeSplitters, but the multiplayer mode will
be just as competitive when there’s you and three
friends vying for the 100,000 skins prize on the
final hole!
Ace Golf
will combine the realistic elements of the game
and while adding a large comical element that
will make it easy to pick up and play. The aim
is to make it appeal to the novice gamers with
the light hearted style while still offering enough
for the golf fan with the attention to detail.
It will be one of the first golf titles for Gamecube
and will offer a wide range of playing styles.
The standard tournament mode will be playable
in stroke and matchplay and there will be a shorter
course for those wanting a more ‘pitch and putt’
style game.
There
will be six other courses to master, ranging from
the standard lush fairways and harsh rough of
the English course to the unusual and un-trodden
territory or the cactus-filled rock desert course.
The programmers are adding a host of mini-games
like a Nearest the Pin competition that will be
played on a nine-hole, par three course. 14 characters
will be selectable in total and one of six different
caddies will be on hand to offer advice and pointers
during your round. It’s scheduled for release
later this year and we’ll have much more information
in the coming months.
