WETA WORKSHOP SHARES LARA CROFT QUEST FOR AVALON PRODUCTION PHOTOS
[ 12 October 2026 ]
Weta Workshop has shared a series of behind-the-scenes photographs documenting the production of its Lara Croft Quest for Avalon statue, based on Lara Croft's appearance in Tomb Raider Underworld. The photographs show workshop artists working on individual components of the 1:4 scale statue, including the Lara Croft figure, two sharks and the underwater environment that forms the base.
The statue depicts Lara Croft as she appears in Tomb Raider Underworld, wearing her wetsuit and diving equipment while holding a harpoon gun. The composition places Lara in a mid-dive pose, surrounded by two sharks and two jellyfish. A school of fish is positioned among the submerged ruins, while the base features coral formations, underwater debris and fragments of ancient structures.
Digitally sculpted by Weta Workshop artists Jorgelina Yeme and Mauro Santini, the statue is manufactured primarily from polystone and is limited to 750 pieces. The design draws on the underwater sequences from Tomb Raider Underworld, incorporating marine life and archaeological remains into a single composition based on Lara's search for Avalon.
