[ 11 October 2026 ]
Celia Imrie has spoken briefly about her role in Amazon MGM Studios' live-action Tomb Raider series. The British actress introduced her character as Francine, Head of Advancement at the British Museum, whose priorities revolve around fundraising and champagne receptions.
"My name is Francine, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge rang me up and said, 'So, would you like to be in [Tomb Raider]? You're in charge of the British Museum because they want a very ancient book that's very, very valuable. And your character description is you have to raise lots of money and lots of glasses of champagne.' How did she know me so well?" Celia Imrie said on ITV's This Morning.
Principal photography on the live-action Tomb Raider series began in January 2026. The show is based on the Tomb Raider video game franchise, originally developed by British studio Core Design, and stars Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, alongside Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie and Bill Paterson.
The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Crystal Dynamics. Executive producers include Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins for Wells Street Films, Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg and Timothy I. Stevenson for Story Kitchen, and Michael Scheel for Legendary Television.
