WREST PARK CLOSES FOR AMAZON FILMING AS TOMB RAIDER SPECULATION GROWS

Wrest Park, a historic country estate in Bedfordshire, was closed for over a week in February 2026 while filming took place for an upcoming Amazon MGM Studios production, the BBC reports. The closure sparked speculation that the sprawling estate could stand in as the new Croft Manor in the forthcoming Tomb Raider adaptation, which began filming in January 2026.

English Heritage told the BBC that filming "provides an important additional income stream that directly supports the conservation and long-term protection of places like Wrest Park." The closure spanned the school half-term holiday period, during which Silsoe Parish Council notified local residents of the plans, including the use of fireworks on two days.

British actress Sophie Turner stars as Lara Croft in the latest screen adaptation of the iconic video game franchise. The Amazon MGM Studios series, produced in association with Crystal Dynamics, also features an ensemble cast including Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Celia Imrie and Bill Paterson.
