CRYSTAL DYNAMICS ANNOUNCES LAYOFFS AFFECTING TWENTY STAFF MEMBERS
[ 18 March 2026 ]
Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics has confirmed a further round of workforce reductions, impacting twenty of its team members across both development and central operations roles. The studio acknowledged the difficulty of the decision in a statement on LinkedIn, emphasising that such measures are not undertaken lightly, particularly in the wake of the organisational restructuring carried out last year.
"Today, Crystal Dynamics is reducing its workforce by 20 talented team members, split between some development personnel and some central operations roles. This is a difficult day for our studio, and we never make these decisions lightly, particularly after the restructuring we underwent last year," Crystal Dynamics announced on LinkedIn.
"As our current projects move into new phases of development, we continuously take a hard look at our team structures to ensure they align with our long-term studio goals. While we always strive to transition our people into new roles whenever possible, we have unfortunately reached a point where these departures are necessary."
In support of departing employees, Crystal Dynamics is offering severance packages and job placement assistance. The studio further encouraged those with relevant opportunities to reach out so that connections can be facilitated. Despite the layoffs, Crystal Dynamics reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing development of previously announced Tomb Raider titles.
