EIDOS APOLOGISES TO ARCHAEOLOGIST
Copyright 2001 www.tombraiderchronicles.com

[ August 1st 2001 ]

Eidos Interactive, the London based publishers behind the phenomenally successful Tomb Raider series, have issued a statement publicly apologizing to a French archeologist who was apparently resembled in Tomb Raider 4 - The Last Revelation.

Jean-Yves Empereur, famed for his discovery of the Pharos Lighthouse - one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - near the Egyptian city of Alexandra, said the character Jean Yves, which appeared alongside videogame heroine Lara Croft in Tomb Raider 4, resembled himself in both profession and name.

The statement, published in the French daily Le Monde, quotes Eidos Interactive Ltd as saying that any resemblance to Jean Yves Empereur was purely coincidental, and that although The Last Revelation will continue to sell in its current state for technical reasons, no such character would appear in forthcoming Tomb Raider titles.
