Level 8: Arctic Sea

Watch the cutscene as Lara blows a hole in the Arctic ice and jumps in for a swim.

[Checkpoint] Swim down and see an old road with giant statues along both sides. The general idea here is to lower a drawbridge in the building at the far end. To do that, you'll first need to find batteries to power the drawbridge mechanism and you'll need to raise the statues' swords which are preventing the chains from moving. Swim to the first statue on the left. Go behind his head and interact with the mechanism to initiate a mini-puzzle.

Clear the dirt off of the cryptex. Now we have to make it look like a tree. The top and bottom tumblers move independently. The second tumbler moves the third in the opposite direction. The third tumbler moves the bottom one in the opposite direction. Move the top tumbler left twice to put it into place. Move the second tumbler left once. Move the third tumbler left once. Move the bottom tumbler right once to complete the puzzle. The statue will raise his sword.

[Checkpoint] Now swim to the last statue on the right and initiate the mini-puzzle on the back of his head. The tiles have to be arranged in the proper order to show a man holding a sword. Move the one with his hands to the left and up. Move the head up and to the left. Move the bottom of the sword all the way down where it belongs. Move the head right and up. Move the hands down. Move the head left. Move the top of the sword all the way down. Move the head right and up. Move the hands up and right to complete the puzzle. The statue will raise his sword.

[Checkpoint] Swim over towards the drawbridge. Swim straight down in between the chains. On the ocean floor there is a gold bar. Pick it up to get Secret #29 (1/7). Swim back up between the chains and face the building. Swim towards the set of stairs on the left. Go up the stairs and find a doorway. Swim to the right of the doorway, up over the rock with the seaweed on it. Swim forward and down to find a gold bar. Pick it up to get Secret #30 (2/7). Now return to the doorway and enter it. Turn right and go down the hall. Make a left into the small room. On the right side there is another gold bar, so pick it up to get Secret #31 (3/7). Swim straight up until you reach the top of the shaft. There is a tunnel you can enter, so swim down it and pick up the Power Stone at the end.

[Checkpoint] Turn around, swim back down the tunnel, and swim to the bottom of the shaft. Swim out into the intersection, make a right, and swim to the end of this hallway. Swim straight up through the holes in the ceiling until you can reach the surface. Pull up onto the platform here. Turn around, hop up onto the block and jump to grab the ledge. Shimmy right and jump to another ledge. Shimmy right around the corner and jump to another ledge. Hop up to stand on the ledge and jump right to the ladder. Climb up the ladder to the top and jump backwards to land on a platform. Go over and pick up the Power Stone.

[Checkpoint] Jump back to the ladder, climb down, and return to the water. Swim back down to the entrance and leave the building. Turn left and swim around the building to a set of stairs on the opposite side. Go through the door at the top of the stairs. Swim up to the surface and pull up onto the platform. Get on the ladder and climb up. At the top, shimmy right onto a ledge and keep going until you can jump right to another ledge. Shimmy all the way to the right here and hop up onto the ledge. Jump right and pull up onto the balance beam. Walk to the end and jump forward to grab another ladder. Climb up this ladder and jump backwards to land on a platform. Go up the ladder and jump backwards to land on a balance beam. Pull up and then jump back towards the ladder to grab the top half. Climb up and jump backwards to grab a platform. Jump over to the area with the Power Stone and pick it up.

[Checkpoint] Make your way back down to the water. You can jump into the far right corner near the ladder and fall into the water. Swim down to the entrance and leave the building. Turn right and swim towards the balcony with the gears on it. Place the three Power Stones into the three empty gears. Then pull the lever in the middle of the platform to lower the drawbridge.

[Checkpoint] Swim down to the drawbridge and enter the tunnel that it was blocking before. Swim up the stairs and follow the tunnel until you reach the surface. Go to the wall on the right side where there is some ice. Initiate a mini-puzzle where you melt the snow to reveal a gold bar. Pick up the gold bar to get Secret #32 (4/7). Run up the stairs to trigger another cutscene.

[Checkpoint] Run straight forward, hang over the edge, and drop down onto the platform. Use Thor's Hammer to kill the Yeti thrall. There are three secrets in this room. They aren't too difficult to get, but you have to do it all in one shot so it can be frustrating. Walk onto the balance beam to the left. Go very slowly and stop moving immediately if Lara starts to wobble. When you get to the other side, pick up the gold bar to get Secret #33 (5/7). Then return over the balance beam to get back to the original platform. Face out into the room. There is a very small platform in front of you, so carefully jump to it. Now jump to the ledge which is forward and to the right. Shimmy all the way left until Lara positions herself on the corner. Lean back and jump to the vertical pole. Climb all the way to the top of the pole. Twist around it so that Lara's back is to the platform. Jump to land on the platform. Turn right to see that there is no waterfall in front of this alcove. There is a grapple ring in the ceiling. Jump toward the alcove and quickly attach the grapple. Swing a few times and jump to grab one of the ledges in the alcove. Climb up to the platform and pick up the gold bar for Secret #34 (6/7). Turn around and position the camera so you can see where you are going. Run and jump off the edge of the platform, then quickly attach the grapple and jump before the end of the swing to land on the platform in the center of the room. Jump to the other tall vertical pole and slide down to the platform below. Kill the two Yeti thralls with Thor's Hammer. Jump to the platform directly in front of you. From there, jump to another platform close by. Pick up the gold bar to get the final secret in the game, Secret #35 (7/7). Now jump back over the two platforms to get to the one with the vertical pole. To the side you will see a balance beam going across the Eitr. Jump onto it and carefully walk to the other end. Stop moving immediately if Lara starts to wobble. At the end, jump forward onto the ledge. Pull up and Lara will use the ledge like a balance beam. Walk to the right end and jump forward to grab the platform. Pull up and walk left into the room. This will trigger a cutscene where Lara opens the door with Thor's Hammer.

[Checkpoint] Run forward through the door and follow the hallway. After a bit, you will meet two Yeti thralls so kill them with Thor's Hammer. Go down the hall a little further and kill another Yeti thrall. Run down the rest of the hallway until you get to a room where a cutscene plays.

[Checkpoint] Follow this hallway around the corner and kill the Yeti thrall. Keep going and you will reach the final room in the game. Drop down to the platform and run forward down the stairs. Run towards the center of the room and watch another cutscene.

[Checkpoint] Look around. See that the central column is powered by pillars located around the ring-shaped walkway. The main idea is to shut these pillars off to turn off the machine. Run to the right, jump the gap, and kill the Yeti thrall. When you approach the pillar, an Adrenaline Moment will play in which a fireball is thrown at you. Quickly run and jump out of the way (but not off the edge of the walkway). Look at the gray pillar with blue markings on it. This protects the power source for the pillar. You will eventually need to push this forward to reveal the power source on top of the pillar so that you can destroy it. For now, jump across the gap onto the platform directly in front of you. From here, hop up to grab a ledge and then hop to the one above it. Shimmy around the corner, jump up to another ledge, and jump left to another. Shimmy around the corner, jump up twice, jump to the ledge on the left, and shimmy around the left corner. Jump up four more ledges and shimmy left around the corner, then jump left onto the walkway. Shimmy left a little bit and pull up. Run around the walkway until you get to a gap with a grapple ring in the ceiling. Use the grapple to swing across to the other side. Run to the end and push in the gray stone with the blue markings.

[Checkpoint] Return to the grapple ring and use the grapple to descend to the lower level. Kill the Yeti thralls and watch out for an Adrenaline Moment where you have to dodge another fireball. The Yeti thralls seem to keep appearing as long as you stay on this platform. There is another grapple ring on the edge of this platform but you can't reach it from here. Face the central pillar in the room and jump onto one of the moving gray and blue crates. Ride it around until you can attach the grapple to the ring on this platform. Descend to the lowest level. Hop over to the platform on the right and jump to the next one. Watch out for the Adrenaline Moment and another fireball. Jump off the other side onto another platform. Hop around two more platforms until you get to the larger platform with the huge gray and blue column. Push the column all the way in.

[Checkpoint] Wall jump back and forth up the shaft until you grab onto a ledge. Make your way up the left wall until you can shimmy left and pull up onto the platform. Hop up to the ledge and jump up to the next one. Shimmy left around the corner, jump up to another ledge, and jump left to another. Shimmy left around the corner, up two ledges, and left to another ledge. Shimmy left around the corner and jump up four ledges, then shimmy left around the corner. Jump left across the gap, shimmy a little to the left and pull up. Turn to the right and jump up onto the block. Turn right and jump up the three ledges to the top of the pillar. Go over and pull out the axel to break this pillar's flow of energy and create more floating crates. Watch a cutscene.

[Checkpoint] Drop back down the ledges on the right side of this pillar to get to the walkway. Run to the right where the grapple ring is and swing across to the other side. Turn around and see a ledge on the pillar. Jump to it, jump to the ledge above it, and shimmy left as far as you can go. Jump to the ledge to the left, hop up to the one above, and shimmy left until you can pull up onto the platform. Jump straight up to grab the next platform edge, hop up, and jump up to the large platform above you. Go towards the center of the room and another fireball will be sent your way, so dodge it. Now go to the edge overlooking the moving crates.

[Checkpoint] There are two rows of crates, an outer row near you and an inner row near the central column. When one of the outer crates comes close by, jump down onto it. Jump onto one of the inner crates when you get a chance. Now jump onto one of the ledges on the central pillar. The bottom row is stationary and the top row is moving. Jump up to a ledge on the top row. Wait for it to reach the side of the column with the ledges going upwards. Climb up the ledges towards the top of the tower. When you reach the second big space in between the ledges, shimmy around the right corner to jump up to the next ledge, then shimmy left again and continue upwards. From the top ledge, jump up onto a ledge on the moving ring. Lean backwards and wait for the ring to pass by a black ramp with glowing blue markings. Jump onto the ramp and slide down to the bottom. Pull out the axel to finish the game.

Enjoy the final cutscene. The last part is an FMV captured from the 360/PC/PS3 version, in case you were wondering why the graphics and outfit are different. Now the credits roll, and afterwards you will have the option to enter Treasure Hunt mode where you can replay any level you want. Start the Treasure Hunt mode and you end up at the beginning of the Mediterranean level. Now go to the PDA and select "Revisit Level" to replay any level except the Prologue. At the beginning of each level, you will now have a choice of which outfit to wear (although it is limited to specific outfits for each level). You can also now choose which secondary weapon to take with you. You can find any secrets you missed during your first play-through. Make a save for Treasure Hunt mode and update it as you find missing secrets. Don't forget to check out the Extras menu and look at all the concept art and storyboards that you unlocked :)
