Level 8: Arctic Sea

Helheim

(Note - Just before the level loads, you have the option of choosing between Drysuit Light or Wet Suit. You can also select your secondary weapon to start with, although you can change it any time from your PDA. Since you begin the level underwater, the Spear Gun would be the best choice for now.)

In the cut scene, following the coordinates that Natla gave her Lara reaches the Arctic Sea. She parks her bike and set an explosion device that blows up the ice, creating a big hole that leads to the ruins. Lara then dives into the water.

Swim down and forward. Soon, you will see some huge statues.

Area overview - There are six huge Norse statues alongside the bridge; three one each side. There is also a tall tower beyond the statues but the drawbridge is up, blocking the way inside. In order to lower the drawbridge, you first have to release the chains that set it in motion and then find four Stones to activate the mechanism that lowers the drawbridge.

As you explore around, you will encounter six sharks in total. You can spend some time in order to kill them before proceeding, or deal with them as they attack one by one. Mjolnir does the job underwater as well, but the shark has to approach until the reticule is red. If the shark swims quite far away and the reticule is grey, you have to throw many energy bolts.

Releasing the chains - Facing the tower and all six statues, swim to the first Norse statue on the left. There is a small alcove behind its head that contains a Health Potion and a wheel (as shown in this screenshot). Approach the wheel and press the Interact button to pull it. This will make the statue to raise its hands, pulling the sword out of the chain.

Swim to the second statue on the left and use the wheel to raise the statue's sword and pull it out of the chain.

The third statue on the left is broken, so there is nothing to use. However, if you approach the depression on top, you will find a Treasure (1/30). (See this screenshot for the location.)

From the statues on the right hand side, the first one has already its sword raised and the second one is broken. So, there is nothing to do there.

Swim to the third statue on the right (the one that is closest to the tower). At this point, the wheel does not work, so swim to the bottom to find two big gears and a Health Potion. The gears glow when you approach them, which means that Lara can grab them. Press the Interact button to grab the first gear and swim to the side of the statue where you will see a gear mechanism and two poles jutting out (as shown in this screenshot). Approach one of the poles and press Interact to put the gear into place. Do the same for the second gear and swim upwards. Enter the alcove behind the statue's head and pull the wheel to activate the mechanism and raise the statue's sword.

Treasure hunting beneath the tower - (This page shows the whole process.) Swim to the part where the drawbridge will lower (between the chains). This is the space between the tower and the broken part of the bridge. Swim down until you see some bones. Opposite the bones is an alcove that contains a Treasure (2/30) and a Health Potion. Once you get them, exit the alcove and turn right. As you swim along the path, keep an eye on the left to spot a Treasure (3/30). Turn around and swim past the alcove and the bones. Soon, you will see another Treasure (4/30) lying on the right hand side.

Searching for the Stones - Swim upwards and turn to face the tower. As you can see, there are two small towers, one on each side of the main tower, with an opening at the bottom. You have to visit both towers in order to find four Stones and it does not matter which one you follow first.

Left hand tower - Before entering the tower, swim down to the lower level and get a Treasure (5/30) from the sand (see this screenshot for the location). Then swim upwards and get the Health Potion in front of the entrance.

Enter the tower to reach the first small room. There is a hallway on the right, but first swim upwards and through the opening above the ladder. When you surface, climb out of the water and turn around. Vault on the low block to the left and jump to grab the narrow ledge. Pull up to hug the wall. Move to the right (Lara's left arm) and jump to grab the beam. Pull up and walk to the other side. Jump to the next beam, then jump to grab the ladder. Climb to the top and press the Jump button to land on the ledge behind.

Break the rounded vase on the right and pick up the Treasure (6/30). Go to the other side and get the Helheim Power Stone #1 from the slightly raised circular platform. Now you have to make your way back, but instead of climbing down the ledges, you can hang from the edge of the opening in the floor and drop to the water below. (This screenshot shows where to hang from.)

Swim down to return back to the small room near the entrance. Do not leave just yet. Swim through the hallway on the left to reach a junction. The way ahead is blocked by rocks, so swim to the right and get the Treasure (7/30) lying on the rock. Turn around and swim forward to the small room with the ladder. Swim upwards to reach the top of the room and turn around. Swim through the hallway ahead to reach a room with many vertical small windows. The Helheim Power Stone #2 is lying on the raised circular platform and you will also find a Treasure (8/30) on the left (as you enter).

Exit to the hallway you came from and halfway through stop and notice the opening above (see this screenshot to get oriented). Swim there and turn around if necessary to spot the Treasure (9/30) on the rock. Then swim through the hallway to reach another room with vertical small windows. Get the Treasure (10/30) and return back to the open sea the same way you came.

Back to the open sea outside the tower - As you exit, swim upwards and to the left to reach the upper level of the main tower. You may encounter a shark, so stay sharp. There are two small stone cones on this level with receptacles at the front. Next to them, you will find the Helheim Power Stone #3 (as shown in this screenshot). Place two of the three Stones you have found until now in their receptacles. You can do it once you find all four, but you will have to backtrack later.

Swim to the front side of the main tower, passing next to another stone cone with a wheel on it. The wheel does not work now, so ignore it and swim past it (as shown in this screenshot). Here you can see two more small stone cones with receptacles at the front. Since you have the third Stone one, put it into place.

Behind the cones you will find a Treasure (11/30). (See this screenshot.) Now swim upwards between the main and right towers. To the side of the main tower is a small room with broken vertical windows (see this screenshot to get oriented). Enter the room and get the Treasure (12/30) from the left. Exit the room and swim down close to the opening of the right hand tower. Swim to the lower level (where the stairs lead down) and around the corner to find one more Treasure (13/30). (See this screenshot for the location).

Right hand tower - Enter the tower and swim upwards to surface. Climb out of the water and break the vase on the right to get a Treasure (14/30). Climb up the ladder and traverse to the narrow ledge on the right. Traverse around the corner and pull up at the end to hug the wall. Jump to the right (Lara's left arm) to grab the next ledge and pull up. Jump to grab the beam and pull up. Walk to the other side and jump to grab the ladder. Climb to the top and press the Jump button to land on the ledge behind.

Grab the next ladder and climb to the top. Jump to grab the beam behind you and pull up. Jump to the next beam and walk towards the wall. Jump up to grab the handhold on the wall and climb to the ledge above. Pick up the Helheim Power Stone #4 and break the vase on the right to get a Treasure (15/30). Turn to face the way you came and approach the left side of the ledge. Jump to the small ledge beyond and break the rounded vase to get one more Treasure (16/30).

Hang from the edge and drop to the beam below. Walk to the other side, hang from the left side and drop to the water below. Make your way back to the open sea.

Back to the open sea - Four sharks are waiting for you as you return back, so deal with them or ignore them (unless they attack). Place the Stone to the receptacle and once you have placed all four Stones, swim to the front side of the main tower and use the wheel.Image

The cut scene shows the drawbridge to lower, revealing the entrance of the main tower.

Twisted passage - Swim down and through the opening that the drawbridge revealed. What follows is a twisted passage and not a maze, however the diagram on the left shows a simple layout of the passage, mainly indicating the Treasures and the Health Potion.

The passage seems blocked by the rocks, but there is a small opening on the right that you can swim through. Follow the passage and swim through the opening of the next fallen rocks. When you reach the junction, the left way is a dead end. Swim forward, through the opening in the rocks to find a Treasure (17/30). Swim back out and continue to the left. Get the Health Potion from the floor and swim through the opening in the rocks.

On the second junction, turn left (the other two ways are dead ends). Swim through the passage to reach the third junction. The way ahead is blocked by the fallen rocks, so swim to the right and through the opening at the top of the fallen rocks to find one more Treasure (18/30) lying on a rock. Swim back out and continue ahead.

When you reach the fourth junction, turn left and swim through the opening in the top left corner of the fallen rocks. Get the Treasure (19/30) and return back. The right way is blocked by the rocks, so continue ahead and through the next opening of the fallen rocks. As soon as you reach the other side, turn around and look below and to the left to spot the next Treasure (20/30).

Continue through the passage to the fifth junction. First, swim ahead through the opening in the rocks. Get the Treasure (21/30) and return back to the junction. Turn left and follow the passage.

Swim through the opening of the next fallen rocks to reach the sixth juntion. Turn right and swim through the opening in the rocks to find yet another Treasure (22/30). Swim back out and continue straight ahead and through the opening in the rocks. The next staircase leads out of the water.

The cut scene shows Lara entering the next room. As she takes a look around, Natla flies down from above and lands in front of the glowing exit. Lara uses her videocamera and zooms in to take a closer look of what Natla is doing. The latter uses her power and rearranges the lock. She then smiles at Lara, who now has to complete the next part. Natla then flies and leaves the room.

Room with toxic pool - You have to cross the toxic pool and reach the opposite side, but before doing anything, break the rounded vase on the right and pick up the Treasure (23/30). Go to the left side of the ledge and pick up the Health Potion. There is one more rounded vase here with a Treasure (24/30) hidden in it. You may have noticed the symbol that glows when Lara is nearby to the left of the entrance (as shown in this screenshot), but do not bother with it now.

Turn to face the pool and approach the edge. If you take a look below, you will see Yeti and Viking thralls rising from the pool. They cannot reach you up here, however if you stay on the ledge, more of them will keep rising up. So, kill the first group and then drop down to the ledge below. If a remaining thrall attacks, take care of it and prepare to cross the pool.

(Note - If you manage to cross the pool without dying, you will encounter more thralls as you go. On the PC version at least, when a Checkpoint loads, it sometimes causes the thralls not to appear again.)

Crossing the pool - (The entire process is shown in this page.) Hang from the edge and drop to the lower ledge below. Kill any remaining thrall and break the rounded vase to find a Treasure (25/30). Turn around to face the pool and approach the left side. Jump on the metal pipe and walk to the other side. Jump to the small ledge ahead and break the rounded vase to find a Treasure (26/30). There is another symbol that glows on the nearby pillar. Make a note of it because you will be back here later. Jump back to the pipe and return to the ledge where you first dropped down.

Turn to face the pool and approach the right hand edge. Jump on top of the small vertical pillar to perch on it and turn right to face the low wall. Jump to grab it and traverse to the left as much as you can, until Lara is hanging from the corner. Jump to grab the tall vertical pillar behind you and climb to the top. Perch on it and jump to grab the nearby flat ledge. Pull up and pick up the Treasure (27/30).

[Note (Contains SPOILERS) - If you take a look above to the right, you will see a metal ring that you will use in the next part of the level if you want to get the Relic.]

Jump on top of the next tall vertical pillar and climb down to the ledge below. Pick up the Health Potion and break the rounded vase to find a Treasure (28/30). Turn to face the exit and approach the right hand side of the ledge. Jump to the small ledge ahead and pick up the Health Potion. Again, notice the symbol that glows on the pillar, because you will need it later. Jump to the next small ledge where you will find a rounded vase that contains a Treasure (29/30). Jump back to the previous small ledge, then to the ledge with the tall vertical pillar.

Facing the exit, approach the left side of the ledge and jump on the angled pipe. Walk to the other side and jump to grab the edge of the wall. Traverse to the right and pull up. Jump to grab the ledge ahead and pull up. Then approach the exit door.

In the short cut scene, Lara uses Mjolnir to open the door.

Yggdrasil

Before going through the exit, get the last Treasure (30/30) from the vase in the far left corner. Also, pick up the Health Potion from the right hand side. Do not leave just yet, because the Relic is in this room. (If you are not interested in getting the Relic, skip to the part of the walkthrough Through the exit.)

Getting the Relic - In order to get the Relic, you have to challenge yourself against a timed running. It is not difficult, but you will most probably try more than once. Do you remember the glowing symbols you met on the various ledges until you came here? There is one more on the pillar to the left of the exit (this screenshot shows the location).

There are six waterfalls in the room; three on each side. You have to activate all four symbols in order to stop the flow of the middle waterfall on the left when facing the entrance. Near the waterfall is a metal ring that will help you swing to the alcove behind the waterfall where the Relic is. (This screenshot shows the waterfall and the metal ring). The catch here is that each symbol remains active for a little while, so you have to run and activate the next symbol before the previous one turns off.

The timed run - (The entire process is shown in this page.) Go to the first symbol which is located to the left of the exit (as you face it). Press the Interact button to activate it and make it glow. Turn right and sprint to the extended ledge above the toxic pool. Just before reaching the ledge, release the Sprint button and steer Lara a bit to the left. Keep running and jump towards the pillar with the second symbol. Lara will hit on the pillar and slide to the ledge below losing some health. However, you will land in front of the second symbol, so press the Interact button to activate it.

Turn right and jump over the toxic pool to land on the opposite ledge. Run forward and jump to grab the tall vertical pillar. Climb to the top, tapping the Interact button at the same time to make Lara climb faster. When you perch on the pillar, jump to the ledge ahead.

When Lara pulls up on the ledge, do not move forward. Instead, make a "blind jump" to land on top of the next tall vertical pillar beyond the ledge. If you move forward on the ledge, Lara will bypass the pillar and end up in the toxic pool.

Aim for the middle part of the low wall on the left before jumping there. If you jump towards the left part of the wall (the one that is closest to you), Lara will bypass the wall and end up in the toxic pool behind, because the distance is small. In case you land on the wall, step backwards to hang from from it. Then traverse to the very right, tapping the Interact button to make Lara move faster.

Jump to the small vertical pillar behind you, then to the ledge beneath the entrance.

Turn right and approach the edge of the ledge. Jump on the pipe and make two consecutive jumps forward to cross the pipe quicker. Then jump to the ledge ahead. Activate the third symbol and jump back to the pipe. Again, make two consecutive jumps forward to cross the pipe and jump to the ledge beneath the entrance. Run forward and jump to grab the tall vertical pillar. Climb to the top, tapping the Interact button at the same time to make Lara climb faster.

Once you perch on the pillar, turn right to face the ledge and jump to it. Then sprint to the pillar to the left of the entrance and activate the fourth symbol.

Turn right and sprint back to the ledge you came from. Just before reaching the ledge, release the Sprint button and run to the right side. Jump to land on top of the tall vertical pillar and then jump to the low wall ahead. Lara will grab onto it, so traverse to the left as much as you can (until Lara is hanging from the corner). Jump to grab the tall vertical pillar behind you and climb to the top. Once again, jump to the ledge ahead but this time turn right.

If you have made it on time, there should not be any falling waterfall ahead. Use the Grapple to catch the metal ring above and jump forward. Swing a couple of times to gain some momentum and jump to grab the edge of the alcove. Pull up and get the Relic.

Use the Grapple to catch the same metal ring and swing back to the ledge. Then make your way back to the exit. If you happen to die before reaching the exit, the Relic will still be on your backpack, so do not worry.

Through the exit - Go through the exit and follow the hallway. When you reach the corner, pick up the Health Potion on the right. Continue down the hallway and turn right around the next corner. Slide down the slope and equip the Hammer. Four Viking thralls will turn around the next corner, so take care of them.

Approach the corner they came from and be prepared for the next battle. Twenty Viking and three Yeti thralls will attack. Use the Hammer and quickly start shooting before they reach you. Aim for the Yetis first because they can do the most damage and kill with one shot any Viking thrall that approaches. You can also use a sticky grenade, but make sure you throw it to the wall and not to the thralls because they can carry it back to you!

When the fight is over, continue through the hallway and when you reach the next corner, pick up the Health Potion from the left. Go to the right and follow the hallway to the next room.

The cut scene shows Lara entering the next room. She takes a look at the feminine figure that is standing in front of a falling water and recognises the silhouette. "Mother?" shes asks. As she approaches the woman she continues "Mother? It's me. It's Lara." The woman turns her head towards Lara and it's Amelia Croft, Lara's mother. But when she turns around, Lara steps back and cannot believe in her eyes. Her mother has turned into a thrall after all these years trapped in Helheim. Amelia approaches her, but Lara is trying to convince herself that her mother is dead so as to take the difficult decision. She points her gun towards her mother and says "My mother is dead. My mother died a long time ago." She takes a final look at her mother and says "You're not my mother." Just before Amelia reaches her, Lara Lara shoots the thrall until it falls into the toxic pool.

Lara kneels, obviously disappointed from the result. Natla arrives and confesses that she set Richard Croft on a quest to search for his wife so she could find the way to Helheim. But he betrayed her in Thailand and she killed him. When Lara appeared with Thor's Gauntlet, she used her in order Lara to continue her father's job which would lead Natla to Helheim. Lara takes out Mjolnir, the only weapon that can stop Natla. Before she uses it, the doppelganger appears from behind and grabs her, knocking the Hammer out of her hands.

"When I made this creature for Amanda," Natla explains, "she had no idea that my true purpose was to have the means to destroy you at this very moment." She also admits that both Lara and Amanda were mere actors in her play. She has a serpent to raise, so she leaves.

Lara and her twin start to fight, but the doppelganger throws Lara on the floor and grabs her neck. As she tries to choke her, Amanda appears from behind and uses the power of Wraith Stone to stop the creature and throw it into the toxic pool. Lara is amazed, but Amanda comes to explain that she wanted to let the creature finish Lara off, but the Midgard Serpent will tear the world apart and the only thing that can stop the disaster is Thor's Hammer.

Three Yeti thralls come from the hallway and Amanda tells Lara to go for the job since she can hold them off. Amanda tries to stop them and Lara is now after Natla.

After the cut scene, equip the Hammer (yes, you still have it!). Kill the two Viking thralls and continue through the hallway. As you turn around the next corner, a Yeti thrall appears, so take care of it. Pick up the Health Potion from the right hand side of the corner and follow the hallway. Slide down the slope and before reaching the end, jump over the pit that contains toxic water.

Follow the hallway and deal with one more Yeti thrall at the end. Then follow the hallway to the next area with the big structure. Drop down to the lower ledge and head to the other side. Go down the stairs and cross the walkway.

In the cut scene, Lara walks to the circular walkway ahead and spots Natla above. She throws an energy bolt to attrack her attention and orders her to shut the device down. Natla seems surprised that Lara made it through here, but it is a good chance so that Lara can see firsthand "the fruits of her labor".

Lara asks if this is the Midgard Serpent and Natla says "Of course not. Jörmungandr is the network of tectonic ridges that encircles the earth of the ocean floor." And she explains that when this relic unleashes its fury below, the very seams of the planet will burts. Natla then quotes the Eddas to Lara. "The Midgard Serpent will rise up and spew poison into the air, and all the world will be consumed by fire and ash."

Natla sets the device into motion and shouts "Ragnarök! The seventh age is upon us!" The camera then shows four raised walkways with a mechanism at the bottom. Natla knows that Lara is here to stop her, so she throws a fireball at her, but Lara manages to evade.

Out Of Time

Area overview - You are standing on a walkway that surrounds the device that Natla set in motion earlier. The last cut scene of the previous part showed four angled supports, each one having a mechanism at the bottom. These mechanisms supply with power the device and make it work. During the cut scene, one of the angled supports collapsed, so your target in this area is to destroy the rest three and prevent Natla from using the device. In order to do that, you have to smash the three mechanisms. However, the mechanisms are hidden so you first have to reveal them by pushing three tall stone panels.

Middle level - You are standing on the middle level. You will first climb down to the lower one and push two stone panels. Do not approach the toxic falling waterfall on the left, because it will kill you instantly.

(The following sequence until reaching the lower level is shown in this page.) Pick up the Health Potion and approach the egde of the walkway facing the device. Wait for one of the three floating platforms that move around the device to approach and jump to grab it. Pull up and wait a bit as the platform circles around the device. Turn having the device to your back and wait for the platform to reach the ledge with the ring. When it does so, jump to the ledge.

Climbing down to the lower level - Use the Grapple to catch the metal ring and step back off the edge. Climb down the Grapple line and since there is no ledge exactly below, swing and jump to the ledge with the Health Potion ahead.

Lower level - Equip the Hammer and kill the Yeti thralls that rise from the water. As you hang around the ledges here, more thralls will appear. If you keep your eyes open, you will be able to kill them before they reach you. Also, Natla may come down here and throw fireballs at you. Although they will not damage you a lot, they may push you off the ledge. So, try to avoid them as you move around the perimeter.

(The following sequence until climbing back to the middle level is shown in this page.)

Pushing the first stone panel - After getting the Heath Position, turn to face the centre of the room and jump to the ledge below. Turn right and approach the left side of the ledge. This part is closer to the opposite walkway, so jump above the toxic water to grab the edge of the walkway and pull up. Turn right and enter the alcove with the glowing symbol. Grab onto it and push the stone panel forward as much as you can.

The brief cut scene shows that this action reveals the power mechanism on the back of the tower above.

Walk back to the other side of the walkway and turn right (you are still going anticlockwise). Jump to the ledge below and jump to grab the next walkway. Pull up and notice that the walkway is broken, so you cannot reach the stone panel.

Pushing the second stone panel - Continue anticlockwise, jumping down to the lower ledge. Then jump to grab the next walkway and pull up. Deal with the Yeti thralls that may attack and enter the alcove on the right. Grab onto the glowing symbol and push the stone panel to reveal the second power mechanism.

Walk back to the other side of the walkway and turn right. Jump to the ledge below and jump to grab the next walkway. There isn't any panel on the right, however this is the way to get back to the middle level.

Climbing back to the middle level - Vault onto the low stone ledge and pick up the Health Potion. Enter the space between the two pillars and perform the Chimney Jump to grab the handhold on the left pillar. Traverse to the right and jump to grab the next handhold. Press the down direction key and jump to the pillar behind. Keep tapping the Jump button to perform the Chimney Jump and grab the ledge above. Alternatively, while hanging from the handhold, you can traverse around the pillar to reach the back of it and jump up twice to grab the topmost handhold. From there, jump to the left to grab the ledge. Climb on the next ledge and jump to grab the upper walkway. Pull up.

(The entire sequence until you reach the upper level is shown in this page.)

Back to the middle level - Turn having the device on your left. Jump down to the walkway below and follow it to reach the metal ring you used before in order to climb down to the lower level.

Destroying the first power mechanism (and angled support) - Ignore the ring and continue to the other side. Jump the gap and head to the tower at the other side of the walkway. Natla will start throwing fireballs at you, so be careful. Vault onto the low block and climb on the ledge at the bottom of the angled support. Pick up the Health Potion from the left and go to the back of the support. Stand in front of the power mechanism and press the Interact button. Lara will use the hammer and smash the mechanism.

The cut scene shows that this action breaks the support into pieces that are used as floating platforms that move around the device.

Go around the support to the front side and drop to the walkway below. Approach the edge facing the device and when a platform passes in front of you, jump onto it. Wait until it reaches the walkway where you started the level. You will see the stairs you came from at the end of Yggdrasil. Jump there and go to the left. Approach the tower and notice the Health Potion in the alcove between the two pillars on the right. This is the second stone panel you pushed on the lower level.

(Note - If there is no alcove here, it means that you did not push the second panel from the lower level, so you need to go down. Refer to the part Middle level at the beginning of the walkthrough to see how you can climb down and push the panel.)

Climbing to the upper level - Jump into the alcove and pick up the Health Potion. Perform the Chimney Jump to grab the handhold on the right pillar. Traverse around the corner and climb to the next handhold. Shimmy around the corner and grab onto the small handholds. Then climb up to the next set of small handholds. At this point, a situational adrenaline begins. Natla flies behind Lara and throws a fireball at her. Quickly jump straight up to grab the next set of small handholds in order to avoid the bolt. Keep climbing up and jump to grab the handhold on the left. Traverse around the corner and pull up on the small square ledge. From there, jump to grab the ledge ahead and pull up.

(The following sequence until reaching the ledge with the two low walls is shown in this page.)

Upper level - Proceed to the walkway and kill the Yeti thrall that appears from the waterfall on the right. Two more Yeti thralls are coming from the other side of the walkway and Natla joins throwing fireballs. Stay close to the waterfall and deal with the first thrall. If you stay here, Natla's fireballs will most probably not get you. Then wait for the other two thralls to approach and kill them one by one.

Pushing the third stone panel - Once you are done, go around the walkway avoiding Natla's fireballs. When you reach the gap, take a look above to the right to spot a metal ring. Use the Grapple to catch it and wall run to the opposite side. Follow the walkway around, avoiding Natla's fireballs. A Yeti thrall appears from the waterfall on the right, so kill it. When you reach the end, enter the alcove and push the stone panel to reveal the third power mechanism.

(Note - Do you remember the panel you could not push on the lower level because the walkway leading to it was broken? Well, here it is now! Although it is the third mechanism you reveal, it will be the second one you will destroy in just a bit).

Climbing to the platform with the two low walls - As you could see from the cut scene, the mechanism is just above, but you cannot reach it from here. Exit the alcove and follow the walkway back to the metal ring you used. Once more, use the Grapple to catch it and jump off the edge. Climb up the Grapple line until you are hanging just below the ledge on the right with the Health Potion. Wall run and jump to grab the ledge. Pull up and pick up the Health Potion. Then climb up the next two ledges to reach a platform with two low walls; one one each side.

Destroying the second power mechanism (and angled support) - Approach the edge of the platform between the two low walls that you can use for cover in order to avoid Natla's fireballs. Wait for a platform to pass just below you and jump onto it. As it moves around, turn having the device to your back. When the platform passes in front of the ledge with the angled support, jump onto it and go behind the support. Use the Hammer to smash the power mechanism.

The cut scene shows the support breaking into pieces that will be used as floating platforms. The camera then shows Amanda entering the area and a Yeti thrall running after her. Just before dropping to the lower ledge, she kills it. As she tries to walk, two more thralls appear and she manages to kill them too. Natla notices her from above and throws a fireball, knocking her down. We then see more thralls entering the area.

(The following sequence until the end is shown in this page.)

Climbing up the device - After the cut scene, go around the support and approach the edge of the ledge facing the device. When a platform passes in front of you, jump onto it. Facing the device, wait for another platform to pass just above you and jump to grab it. Pull up and approach the device. Jump to grab one of the handholds of the first ring on the device. When one of the handholds of the second ring above is ready to pass, jump straight up to grab it.

Wait until the ring passes beneath a series of handholds. When it does so, climb up the first set of handholds. Jump straight up to grab the second set of handholds and traverse to the left. Climb up until the third handhold and traverse around the corner to the left. Then jump up to grab the lone handhold. Again, jump straight up to grab the last set of handholds and traverse to the right around the corner. Now climb to the top.

At this point, a situational adrenaline begins. Natla flies behind Lara and throws many fireballs. Quickly jump up to grab one of the handholds of the ring above in order to avoid the bolts.

Destroying the third power mechanism (and angled support) - Wait for the ring to rotate and bring you above the third angled support. When it does so, release to land on the support. You will start sliding down and end up in front of the third power mechanism. Press the Interact button to use the Hammer and smash the mechanism.

The cut scene shows the support breaking into pieces. With nothing to support it, the device starts to hover. Natla notices it and flies to the bottom where she uses her power in order to support the device. Lara realises what she is doing, so she throws Mjolnir towards her. The Hammer hits on Natla who falls into the toxic pool. Then the device collapses.

Lara runs away from the walkway and heads to the exit. She finds Amanda lying on the floor and tries to help her. However, Amanda is able to stand up and pushes Lara away.

"After killing the Midgard Serpent, Thor dies from its venom anyway." Amanda says tauntingly.

Lara replies "Not if you clear the corridor and get us out of here."

Amanda uses the Wraith Stone, but there is no power left. "Out of juice, just like Bolivia. The good news is we saved the world," Amanda says while Lara is trying to figure a way out, and continues "The bad news is we're going to die here, just like your mother".

Lara did not like what she heard and turns around to punch Amanda, but she stops. Apparently, "Bolivia" gave Lara an idea. She locates a dais, same as the one in Bolivia where she last fought with Amanda. She runs to it and Amanda follows her. And yes! There is a sword stuck in a stone like in Bolivia. Lara figures that her mother must have tried to use it to escape but did not know how. Lara, however, knows how it works, so she presses the sword into the stone and a big metal circle rises up.

Although the symbols on the stones glow, the portal does not work and Lara wonders "If pulling out these artifacts always brings you here, what will happen if I'm already here?"

Amanda replies "Maybe you'll go to hell."

Lara then spots a piece that is missing from one of the stones, so she puts it into place. But she cannot hold the stone and reach the sword at the same time, so she asks Amanda to do it.

"What about you" Amanda asks. Lara replies that she can reach her if Amanda holds out her hand.

"You trust me?" Amanda asks.

"We're out of time, Amanda".

Amanda thinks about it and she finally makes her decision. She pulls out the sword and yells "Now!" while at the same time reaches Lara's hand. The Looking Glass is now activated.

The camera shifts to another room with a same dais. (If you have played Legend, you should recognise this room. It is where Lara found the Excalibur in the Monastery of Nepal.) The symbols on the stones glow and a big metal ring rises up. In a few seconds, both women tumble out. Lara stands up and picks up the sword.

"So, it's back to this, is it?" Lara asks.

"What, you think we're even?" Amanda replies.

"Would killing me make us even?" Lara asks.

Amanda thinks about it for a while, but she decides to leave. Lara approaches the broken pedestal and picks up two pieces of paper with Yeti drawings. (Again, if you have played Legend, you should remember these drawings from Lara's journal.)

"Goodbye, Mother. Rest in peace."

Lara leaves and the camera shows an opening in the ceiling. It is snowing...
