EIDOS SETS OUT ACQUISITION TIMELINE

Eidos has announced a timeline by which it hopes the forthcoming acquisition by Square Enix will be complete. Shareholders will be called to an EGM on March 25th in order to vote on the proposed acquisition with shares being suspended on 21 April. Providing all events run smoothly, Square Enix hopes to have full ownership of Eidos plc by 6 May.

EIDOS PLC POSTS SIX MONTH FINANCIALS

Eidos plc has posted its half-yearly financial report for the six months ended 31 December 2008. Financial highlights include revenue of 80.3m increased 26.7% primarily following the launch of Tomb Raider Underworld. Tomb Raider Underworld sold in 2.6m units and at approximately 1.5m units sell through is outselling the two most recent iterations of the game over the same period, but lower than the initial plan set.

SQUARE ENIX TO BUY EIDOS INTERACTIVE

Japanese video-game maker Square Enix Holdings has agreed in principle to buy Eidos Interactive for $121 million. A statement released by the company confirms both Eidos and Square have agreed a deal, subject to shareholder approval.
