James Bond is coming to town - or rather his studio is - with a generous push at the baccarat table from city hall. That would be Pinewood Shepperton, the folks who brought you Bond, Batman, Harry Potter and Lara Croft. They'll be operating the new 150-million, million-square-foot lakefront mega-studio which was announced yesterday at the Docks by Mayor Mel Lastman and assorted local burghers.

1774. Tomb Raider Chronicles - 20TH CENTURY FOX TAPS YOUNG VEEP
Twentieth Century Fox has tapped Paramount exec Alex Young VP of production. Young, who will report to production prexy Hutch Parker, has been serving in a similar capacity at Par. He has been involved in shepherding projects including Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and the upcoming Star Trek: Nemesis, The Core, The Sum of All Fears and Paycheck.

Video and DVD rental giants Blockbuster Video has released the top ten most popular rentals week ending February 1 2002 with Warner Bros animated adventure Cats & Dogs snatching the top spot for the second week running. Steven Spielberg’s CGI-based adventure SHREK and Bridget Jones Diary falls in behind Cats & Dogs to take second and third place respectively.
