1708. Tomb Raider Chronicles - LARA CROFT FIRM MAY BECOME HUNTED
Eidos, the UK computer games company renowned for its sultry game heroine Lara Croft, could be the subject of a takeover approach from French rival Ubi Soft, French business paper Les Echos has learnt. We are certainly going to grow by acquisitions this year, said Yves Guillemot, Ubi Soft executive chairman. Within that framework, Eidos could be a target for us. Whatever happens, I think that company will be bought in the course of the year.

1710. Tomb Raider Chronicles - PARAMOUNT EYE SPEED KING FOR SEQUEL
Franchise fever is consuming Hollywood fueled by the recent releases of Spiderman and Resident Evil and Paramount Pictures is moving quickly toward mounting a sequel to Lara Croft: Tomb Raider with former Oscar winner Angelina Jolie set to reprise her role as adventuress Croft. Following the high-profile search for a director, Variety Magazine reports that the studio has set its sights on Speed helmer Jan De Bont. Negotiations have begun with an eye toward getting the film in production by early fall.
