1696. Tomb Raider Chronicles - UK GAMES INDUSTRY GETS 35MIL FUND
An investment bank on Wednesday launched a $35 million fund to finance development of console and PC games in Britain and give investors a chance to join the treasure trail pioneered by cyber heroine Lara Croft. Noble Fund Managers Ltd, the investment arm of UK-based investment bank Noble Group, said the Fund4Games will work as a kind of project-based venture capital fund and back video game development throughout the UK, home of the hugely successful Tomb Raider series starring Lara Croft.

Eidos Interactive and Core Design announced today that Lara Croft, character of one of the 1 billion dollar game franchise, will mark her public debut at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles on May 22. Croft, who has previously been portrayed by models Rhona Mitra, Nell McAndrew, Lara Weller, Lucy Clarkson, Jill de Jong and actress Angelina Jolie, will make several appearances on the expo floor answering questions from the audience and talking about her newest adventure Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness.
