1386.   Tomb Raider Chronicles - TOBY GARD TAPPED BY CRYSTAL DYNAMICS?

According to numerous industry sources, Toby Gard - the original architect behind the Lara Croft Tomb Raider franchise - has been tapped by U.S.-based studio Crystal Dynamics to lend a hand with the new Tomb Raider adventure game. Gard, responsible for creating Britain's most explosive digital export to date while serving with Derbyshire-based studio Core Design in 1995, abandoned his role as lead designer after a series of creative differences shortly after London-based publisher Eidos acquired Core Design following a series of takeovers and mergers.

1387.   Tomb Raider Chronicles - ANGELINA JOLIE BEGINS PILOTS TRAINING

Lara Croft actress Angelina Jolie is steadily moving closer to achieving her dream of becoming a pilot once she retires from Hollywood in a few years, after she has enrolled for flying lessons. She claims that this would help her deliver aid to refugees and make her a 'supermom' in her adopted son's eyes. According to Hello magazine, Oscar winner Jolie, who has been associated with a number of humanitarian causes in countries like Cambodia and Jordan has also been appointed a goodwill ambassador by United Nations, has already started taking flying lessons in Santa Monica.

1389.   Tomb Raider Chronicles - EIDOS GAINS FROM CHAMP ANNOUNCEMENT

Eidos Plc, the creator of the Lara Croft computer-game heroine, gained 10.5 pence, or 11 percent, to 107. This gain followed an announcement that the number one selling football management series Championship Manager is to appear on Xbox and, for the first time ever, PlayStation 2. Championship Manager 5, the latest instalment in the series, will be released in spring 2005 on both formats. The game is being developed by Gusto Games.

1390.   Tomb Raider Chronicles - TOMB RAIDER ARABIAN NIGHTS REVIEWED

Arabian Nights proves that if given a writer rather than a hack and if given an artist rather than a doodler fond of blow-up dolls, Tomb Raider could not only be a good comic book but a great comic book. Fiona Avery writes Lara Croft as supremely confident and as an effective non-powered super-hero. Despite the lack of physical resemblance, Avery's Lara often recalls Angelina's Lara from the big-screen.
