Big Brother and Lara Croft have helped Macquarie Leisure Trust to a $17.4 million profit for the June 30 year, a rise of 51 per cent on the previous year. The trust said it was now looking for other investments and was confident of the future trading prospects of its Dreamworld and d'Albora marinas assets. Chairman Neil Balnaves said Macquarie Leisure was now well positioned to pursue the acquisition of other leisure assets that provide opportunities for profit improvement through the application of specialised operational management.

Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie has been branded a tip raider by waiters at a posh Liverpool restaurant. The lilo-lipped beauty, 29, who plays action hero Lara Croft, had gone to the city on a recent UK trip to hook up with her Scouse pal Eunice Hothart, a stunt double. They went into the Schmooze bar in Wavertree with four burly minders. Despite splashing out £60 on a two-course meal, acting manager Andrew Hurman claims she failed to leave a gratuity for the starstruck staff.

Tomb Raider novelist Eric Knight has written and published the second novel based on the adventures of video-game heroine Lara Croft, aptly titled Tomb Raider: The Lost Cult. Minnesota-born E. E. Knight may be best known for authoring the Vampire Earth series - beginning with the novel Way of the Wolf - but the part-time teacher has now turned his hand to writing numerous sci-fi adventures as well as tapping into Eidos' most potent video-game franchise to date.

1385. Tomb Raider Chronicles - UBISOFT SET TO ACQUIRE EIDOS FOR £215m
Lara Croft, the computer-generated heroine and pneumatic pin-up girl for the UK's teenage population, is set to bid au revoir to her British investors after Ubisoft, the giant French games publisher, emerged this weekend as the front-runner to snap up Eidos, its struggling UK rival. The British company, which created Lara in its successful Tomb Raider series of games, is locked in takeover talks with Ubisoft.
