In a rather curious turn of events, Tomb Raider publisher Eidos has toiled some subterfuge of its own by sending out feelers via PSM2 magazine on the future guise of the Lara Croft franchise, now under the direction of Californian developer Crystal Dynamics. Curious in the sense that we would have expected the seventh game to have surpassed the ideas and suggestions phase and be loitering midway along the production chain if Eidos are to keep to their planned Summer 2005 rollout date.

ROB DYER LEAVES EIDOS PLC FOR CRAVE
Nima Taghavi, CEO of Crave Entertainment Group (CEG), announced today the election of Rob Dyer as president and chief operating officer. Dyer brings over a decade of executive experience in the interactive entertainment industry to his new role at the privately held distributor and publisher of videogame entertainment products. OFFICIAL: TOBY GARD TAPS TOMB RAIDER 7
Eidos has confirmed Toby Gard - the original architect behind video-game heroine Lara Croft - will join Crystal Dynamics and spearhead the Tomb Raider 7 creative team. In a statement to www.tombraiderchronicles.com this morning, Eidos said: Toby will complement the existing talented team creating the next Tomb Raider title. As the creator of the Lara Croft character, he brings a unique perspective to the development process.

TOBY GARD TAPPED BY CRYSTAL DYNAMICS?
According to numerous industry sources, Toby Gard - the original architect behind the Lara Croft Tomb Raider franchise - has been tapped by U.S.-based studio Crystal Dynamics to lend a hand with the new Tomb Raider adventure game. Gard, responsible for creating Britain's most explosive digital export to date while serving with Derbyshire-based studio Core Design in 1995, abandoned his role as lead designer after a series of creative differences shortly after London-based publisher Eidos acquired Core Design following a series of takeovers and mergers.

TOMB RAIDER COMIC TIES WITH TR7 LAUNCH
Top Cow Productions, in conjunction with Eidos, Ltd, is announcing that the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider comic book will wind down its first volume and relaunch in conjunction with the release of the 7th Tomb Raider video game in the summer of 2005. Top Cow is participating in the re-design of the new game. Top Cow plans to end the 1st volume with issue #50, written by Dan Slott (JLA, She-Hulk), shipping to comic book stores in January.
