EIDOS WINS INITIATIVE APPROVAL
Eidos Interactive PLC, the UK games company which publishes Core Designs Tomb Raider video-game series, lost thirteen per cent off its share price yesterday after the company won approval on a new discount initiative aimed at raising £51.7m Eidos will sell one new share at 155 pence for every three shares held by existing shareholders to raise funds for the development of new video games.

TOMB RAIDER CLAIMS BOX OFFICE RECORD
Oscar winner Angelina Jolie discharged Walt Disney Pictures Atlantis: The Lost Empire and Steven Spielberg's Shriek by propelling Lara Croft: Tomb Raider to number-one best selling movie of weekend June 15-17. Paramount Pictures $100m motion picture hauled in $48.2m in box office revenue, a record for a female star-driven vehicle according to Rob Friedman, vice-chairman of Viacom Inc. Although early reviews of the movie proved negative, that didn't deter cinema-goers across the United States, whose makeup consisted of a 55 per-cent male majority, according to polling data collected by Paramount.

EIDOS MISSES MOVIE OPPORTUNITY
Information carrier Yahoo! Inc. reports today that Eidos Interactive, the games publisher that owns the rights to Core Designs Tomb Raider adventure series, will lose millions by electing not to release a Lara Croft episode this year to coincide with the movie release.
