ASPYR MEDIA ANNOUNCES AOD ON MAC O/S

Aspyr Media has announced Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Angel Of Darkness for the Apple Macintosh platform has entered Alpha stage development and will make its commercial debut December 2003. Aspyr Media has been responsible for publishing all Tomb Raider games to date with Westlake Studio converting the code from PC to MAC.

THE ANGEL OF DARKNESS TO PORT TO MAC

According to a report in macHOME magazine, Tomb Raider The Angel Of Darkness could soon explode onto Macintosh platforms via Aspyr Media along with Disney's Tron 2.0 movie. Although no official announcement has been forthcoming on either title from their respective publishers, macHOME reports impending rumblings from the top brass at Aspyr Media very soon concerning a possible Tomb Raider port.

EIDOS AWARDS SHARE OFFER TO CHIEF EXEC

Eidos Interactive has awarded £168,000 worth of company shares to Chief Executive Michael McGarvey that will automatically mature if he stays with the company for a further three years, Associated Newspapers reports today. The deal, brokered last September, is unusual because it's not performance related. According to Eidos Interactive, the grant was make in order to ensure the continued retention of Mike McGarvey, even though Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Angel Of Darkness missing out on the capitalization of the robust Christmas trading period due to development delays which adversely effected the company's share price.

CORE DESIGN HITS BACK AGAINST EIDOS PLC

According to our connections at Core Design, Angel of Darkness should not be on the shelves yet. The release date they were shooting for was Christmas 2003, probably a November release date as most of the rest of the TR games have had. Then, in Summer of 2002, Eidos told the Angel of Darkness team to have the program ready for release in Christmas of 2002, full twelve months before their original projected date of completion. Naturally, this was all but impossible, so Eidos backed the date up to February of this year. In the meantime, two of their staff quit due to a disagreement and the remaining AI programmer was, according to my informer, not exactly the best programmer we've ever used.
