JEREMY HEATH-SMITH TALKS TOMB RAIDER
Former Core Design boss and CiRCLE Studio director Jeremy Heath-Smith has given a candid interview to Game Informer on his new project, Without Warning, the use of middleware as a viable alternative to developing an in-house proprietary game engine, and the lessons learned from the Tomb Raider franchise which resulted in abandoning the studio he formed in 1998. Commenting on leaving Core Design, Heath-Smith said: I started Core Design in 1988; she was my baby. I sold it, which I guess changes the dynamic of that a little bit and made a me lot of money out of it as a result, but I spent the best part of my life there. My brother joined us a little after I started Core Design and the team we took with us has been with us for about 8 to 10 years.

Lara Croft creator Toby Gard will use the E3 forum to speak about his role as senior designer with U.S. based studio Crystal Dynamics where he is back working on the digital icon he help create during his tenure at Core Design in 1995. From the press junket: "The more compelling the character, the more likely gamers will want to associate and 'play with' that character. Tomb Raider's Lara Croft is devoted to her mission. Grand Theft Auto's 'CJ' plays by his own rules. In the upcoming Psychonauts, straight-arrow Raz is earnest and honest as they come. "

TOMB RAIDER 7 TO BE ANNOUNCED MON..?
By far the most popular question our readers have asked in recent times has been the query of when will Eidos announce Tomb Raider 7 as the Q4 2005 release date Eidos touted in 2004 looms ever closer. While there has been a considerable volume of speculation as to why Eidos have remained silent for so long, it is our opinion that an announcement is now immediately forthcoming, and our money is on February 14th, 2005. The most obvious reason for selecting this date would be because it's their leading lady's birthday, and crafted carefully the PR momentum attached to that train would most certainly propel the build-up of anticipation and overall excitement to near-hype status until the game finally hits the shelves.
