LARA CROFT WAY OPENS TO THE PUBLIC

Lara Croft Way, part of Derby's new 36.2m inner ring road system, has opened to the public, reports the BBC. The name was chosen from a shortlist by public vote, with 89 per cent of those polled opting for the character devised by Derby-based game studio Core Design.

LARA CROFT WAY NEW DERBY ROAD NAME

Derby City Council have announced Lara Croft Way as the winning entry of an online vote to name a new section of the city's ring road. The Tomb Raider star was first conceived in Derby by British studio Core Design before being exported to U.S. studio Crystal Dynamics.

ROAD MAY BE NAMED AFTER LARA CROFT

Derby City Council recently canvassed the public on possible names for a new road under construction as part of the Connecting Derby scheme, and were not altogether surprised at some of the submissions. According to This Is Derbyshire, Lara Croft and Florence Nightingale were both pitted as possible suitors by members of the public.

TOBY GARD LINKED TO NEW TOMB RAIDER

Toby Gard may have inadvertently shed light on a recent AAA project advertised by U.S. studio Crystal Dynamics in a recruitment posting. According to Gard's LinkedIn profile, his current position at Crystal Dynamics is 'leading a design group for an unannounced project', quite possibly the very same project that needs staffing.

NEW TOMB RAIDER INSTALLER FOR VISTA

Chris Ware from Mintra Systems has sent over a new solution for installing the original 1996 Tomb Raider on Windows XP and Windows Vista. This is Core Design's original Tomb Raider game, repackaged to run under Windows 2000, XP and Vista without the need for any patching or complicated configuration work.
