TOMB RAIDER LAUNCHES ON SKY GAMESTAR

The world's most famous videogame character. Lara Croft makes her interactive TV debut in the UK and Ireland today, following an exclusive agreement between BSkyB and Eidos Interactive, publisher of the Tomb Raider series. Tomb Raider: Apocalypse, Episode 1: The Eye of Osiris has been developed by Minds Eye Productions specifically for Sky Gamestar - Sky digital's TV games portal. It is the first episode in a series, with parts two and three launching throughout 2003. Sky digital viewers take on the role of the all-action heroine Lara Croft as she embarks on a death-defying adventure.

SONY PLANS SPRING LAUNCH FOR GAMES

Sony Corp. said on Thursday it would launch an online gaming network in Europe next spring for its top-selling PlayStation 2 video game console, triggering a new turf war in the ultra-competitive industry. Console manufacturers, including Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, are making a big push into online gaming just as home penetration of high-speed broadband access hits a critical mass.

ESSENTIAL REALITY ANNOUNCES TITLES

Essential Reality, Inc, a developer and integrator of sensory and real-time remote tracking devices, announced today the computer game titles that will be featured with its P5 glove product set to debut nationwide during the week of October 21, 2002. Bundled with the P5 glove will be the soon to be released Hitman 2, a 1st and 3rd person shooter game published by Eidos Interactive, Tiger Hunt, a tank-driving warfare game and Beachhead 2002, an arcade-style war game, both from Infogrames Inc. The MSRP for the premier edition of the P5, compatible with the PC and complete with the three P5-enabled game titles, will be $149.
