TELEVISION AWARDS PUSHES THE ENVELOPE

Alert the Hollywood trophy-makers: TV Thursday added two more award shows to the seemingly endless schedule of programs built around the best or most popular this or that. TNN said it will launch the New TNN Video Game Awards late next year, and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced plans for its first national Latin Emmy Awards, to be shown on Spanish-language networks in June.

JOLIE SPLASHES OUT ON NEW LONDON HOME

Tomb Raider star Angelina Jolie has splashed out £4000 on punk rock memorabilia for her new swanky London home. The purchases include six original Sex Pistols photos by Jamie Read, Sky News reports today. Jolie, currently shooting Par's Tomb Raider sequel The Cradle Of Life, was spotted at Tom Tom, a retro shop specializing in memorabilia from the 1960's and 1970's. As assistant said Jolie was styling her new house with various collectors items and requested they be shipped to Pinewood Studios to keep her address a secret.

JOLIE PERFORMS STUNTS ON RAGING BULLS

Angelina Jolie - who performed most of her own stunts in the original Tomb Raider movie claiming she had no choice if she wanted to win over the millions of fans who have fallen for Lara Croft - insists on continuing the fashion in Par's sequel The Cradle Of Life. Several sequences require Jolie to ride real bulls, with horns and everything! Jolie told reporters recently. They're being trained up for the film. What you do, apparently, is to get the male bulls to chase after a female. So I'm going to be on some excited bulls looking for their girlfriends.

WALES APPROVES £300M MOVIE COMPLEX

Plans for a new £300 million movie complex backed by Lord Richard Attenborough have been rubber stamped following approval by Rhondda Cynon Taff County Borough Council's development control committee. Dragon International will develop a 350-acre former open cast mine site in Llanilid complete with media centre, screen academy and theme park, according to Sky News. The complex, to be called Dragon International Studios, will also sport the latest facilities for making feature films, television productions and commercials with full editing and post-production facilities.

CIARAN HINDS TO PLAY DOCTOR REECE

Belfast-born and RADA-trained Ciaran Hinds will star opposite Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie in Par's Tomb Raider sequel The Cradle Of life. The 'Sum Of All Fears' actor will play evil villain Dr Jonathan Reece, bent on deploying an army of biological drones to wreak havoc on the world. Hinds made his film debut as a medieval knight in the 1981 Arthurian legend 'Excalibur' and was catapulted to the front ranks in costume epics by his 1993 portrayal of Shakespeare's 'Richard III'.
