JOLIE GOOD SHOW AT CORE DESIGN
While the marriage of Eidos Interactive and the movie release of Tomb Raider could see as much as $200m in advertising benefit the release of Chronicles and the future release of the series, PC Gamer asked Core boss Adrian Smith his companies angle on the movie. It's got quite a SciFi edge, he says, enthusiastic about what he's seen on set so far. The sets look awesome, and they've been pursuing the love interest like a dog with a bone.

TOMB PIC CREW SHOOT AT HIMALAYAS
According to a report posted by The Butler, the cast and crew from the Tomb Raider movie are shooting a Himalayam scene after spending time in Iceland filming in an underground resevoir which was converted into a huge set. Yea, one of my spies has told me a little about Angelina Jolie in the new TR movie...' reporting in about a scene apparently set in the Himalayas, our heroine is to be found traversing a cold and rocky landscape with a posse of gun-wielding henchmen wearing parkas in tow.

EIDOS' STAKE IN TOMB RAIDER MOVIE
As the Eidos Interactive NASDAQ share price continues its roller coaster ride across the worlds technical markets, IGN Movies reports more financial speculation, but this time concerning what Eidos' stake in the upcoming Paramount movie Tomb Raider would be. Lara Croft movies. Eidos see the main benefit of these as a $200m worth of free advertising. They do have rights to a small percentage of the gross take (I wasn't told, and didn't ask, what 'small' means) so there is some cash in it for Eidos too. Paramount are committed to spending $80m in production costs, and will probably in fact spend $100m.

As a shroud of mystery envelopes the workings on set at Pinewood, British newspaper The Sunday Mirror released this shot Sunday with the following story. Heres the first picture of Angelina Jolie kitted out as Lara Croft on the set of the new Tomb Raider Movie. My snapper had maximum power up as he slipped into Pinewood Studios and I'm giving him bonus points for coaxing a smile out of Angelina.

PC GAMER HUNTS DOWN CORE DESIGN
Derby. Early August. It's been difficult locating Core Design's HQ because, as the cabbie puts it 'There's no sign on the door.' He's not wrong. Presumably attempting to throw Lara obsessive (and believe me, these people do exist), off their scent, Core's building is discreetly tucked away in an anonymous industrial estate. Until you get past their reception, that is. And then it's six-foot statues of their money-spinning heroine, trophy cabinets, and the subtle but perceptible buzz of a young, dynamic company that's made millionaires of its founders. Naturally, the majority of this success is thanks to the vehicles for Lara Croft's third-person acrobatics - the Tomb Raider series of games.
