GAME MAKERS FINGERS AT THE CONTROLS
Games console players are expected to provide the bulk of a 4bn windfall for software manufacturers over the next three years as Microsoft's Xbox challenges the dominance of Sony's PlayStation products. A report by research firm Datamonitor forecasts revenues from games will grow to 21.6bn dollars in 2004 - 22 per cent above last year.

Eidos Interactive has announced a partnership with console giant Sony Entertainment to keep the forthcoming Tomb Raider series exclusively on the Playstation 2 video-game console as well as the PC, dispelling earlier rumours of a possible Lara Croft debut on Microsoft Corp's XBOX entertainment system.

BECKHAM CAN'T STOP ROUT AT RAGE
Rage Software, a UK games developer, yesterday stunned the market with a warning that second half sales would disappoint after turnover in the six months to December fell short of expectations. The gloomy outlook came just two days after rival games group Eidos gave its own profits alert. It knocked Rage's shares down 12 per cent to 3.75p.
