EIDOS IN BLACK AS HITMAN STRIKES HOME

Booming sales of its Hitman 2 and Timepslitters 2 games enabled Eidos to report its first profit for almost three years in the six months to December. Chief executive Mike McGarvey said Hitman and Timesplitters had each sold more than a million units and helped the group swing from a loss of £2.25m to a profit of £6.67m. Sales rose from £70m to £89m., Sharecast reports.

VIDEOGAME ICON LARA AND G4 PARTNER

G4, the TV network all about video games, today announced a major on-air, cross-channel and online campaign, in conjunction with game publisher Eidos Interactive and game developer Core Design, to cast superstar, video game character Lara Croft in a ground-breaking marketing program to promote both the cable channel and Eidos' popular Tomb Raider franchise. The announcement was made today by Dale Hopkins, senior vice president, sales and distribution, G4.

EIDOS ANNOUNCES NEW DELAY FOR AOD

Eidos Interactive Plc has announced a further delay to the release of Tomb Raider: The Angel Of Darkness penned to make its commercial debut on PC and Sony Playstation II next month. Fans of cyber-babe Lara Croft are now expected to wait until April at the earliest before Tomb Raider: The Angel Of Darkness hits the shelves. The announcement comes as Eidos Interactive today declared a net cash balance of about £50 million and an expected move into profitability when it releases its financial results for the six months ended December 31 2002 on March 6th. It was also confident that it would meet consensus forecasts of about 13 million pounds in pre-tax profit and 7p in EPS for the full year to June 30.

TRADING AND RELEASE SCHEDULE UPDATE

Eidos Plc, one of Europe’s leading publishers and developers of entertainment software, today reports a robust performance during the Christmas trading period, due in particular to continued strong sales of the pillar titles Hitman 2 and TimeSplitters 2, whose combined sales to date are 2.9 million units. On 6 March the Company will announce its results for the six months ended 31 December 2002, and in respect of which the Company expects to move into profit at the half year. A strong sales contribution from the North American market represented in excess of 45% of H1 sales, up from 34% for the 15 months reported to 30 June 2002.
