WHEREFORE ART THOU TOMB RAIDER 7?

As of 1500 GMT, no press release has been issued by UK publisher Eidos announcing the return of British adventurer Lara Croft in Tomb Raider 7. Fervent speculation during the past few weeks fuelled the popular belief (read: hope) that Eidos would use Feb 14th as a gravy train for spectacularly unveiling a new Tomb Raider from new developers Crystal Dynamics. TOMB RAIDER 7 TO BE ANNOUNCED MON..?

By far the most popular question our readers have asked in recent times has been the query of when will Eidos announce Tomb Raider 7 as the Q4 2005 release date Eidos touted in 2004 looms ever closer. While there has been a considerable volume of speculation as to why Eidos have remained silent for so long, it is our opinion that an announcement is now immediately forthcoming, and our money is on February 14th, 2005. The most obvious reason for selecting this date would be because it's their leading lady's birthday, and crafted carefully the PR momentum attached to that train would most certainly propel the build-up of anticipation and overall excitement to near-hype status until the game finally hits the shelves.

TOMB RAIDER 7 TARGETS XBOX CONSOLE

A recent article in the December issue of Electronics Gaming Monthly (Issue 185) announces that Eidos plans to debut an XBOX version of Tomb Raider 7 in early 2006; several months after Sony Playstation 2 copies will hit the shelves. This information is consistent with reports circulating the web that progress is well underway in adapting Lara's new adventure to suit all current formats. Core Design originally planned The Angel of Darkness to debut in the new XBOX format, but the concept was dismissed due to an exclusive distribution agreement hammered out between Eidos and Sony.
