ARCHAEOLOGISTS FIND ANCIENT MOUNDS

Armenian archaeologists have discovered burial mounds 35 miles west of the Armenian capital Yerevan dating back to the third millennium B.C., Associated Press reports today. Trinkets and beads belonging to ancient Aryan nomads were unearthed, along with beads and glazed pottery.

COPERNICUS REMAINS FOUND IN POLAND

Polish archaeologists have unearthed what they believe are the skeletal remains of 16th century cleric Nicholas Copernicus during an excavation of Frombork Cathedral on Poland's Baltic coast, Reuters reports this morning. A computer reconstruction of the skull showed the head of a grey-haired man of 70, the age Copernicus died.

ANCIENT OBSERVATORY FOUND IN CHINA

Chinese archaeologists have unearthed what they claim to be the world's oldest observatory during an excavation at the Taosi relics site in Shanxi province, Agence France-Presse reports today. The remains, in the shape of a semi-circle 40 meters (132 feet) in diameter in the main observation platform and 60 meters (198 feet) in diameter in the outer circle, were made of rammed earth.
