EIDOS DEBUTS LEGO STAR WARS TRAILER

LEGO Star Wars combines two childhood favourites, LEGO and Star Wars, to create an innovative and exciting action-adventure title designed for young gamers. The game will be released in April 2005 for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system, Xbox video game system from Microsoft, PC and Game Boy Advance. The game is based on The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and the eagerly awaited Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith, slated for worldwide release in May 2005. EIDOS SCORES TITLES FOR BREW PHONE

Eidos, one of the world's leading publishers and developers of entertainment software, announces it has signed an agreement with QUALCOMM, pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, to publish games for BREW-enabled mobile phones. Developed by QUALCOMM, the BREW solution is a unique system that supports the very latest in applications and services for wireless handsets, from games to ringtones, to position location and productivity software as well as user interface (UI) support and customization. Eidos plans to launch some of its key brands for BREW-enabled mobile phones, including Tomb Raider and Thief.

TOMB RAIDER SLOT MACHINES INCOMING

Leading turnkey provider Microgaming has licensed the Tomb Raider™ brand from Eidos, one of the world's leading developers and publishers of entertainment software. The deal will see Microgaming launch a new online video slot game themed around the world famous video game series Tomb Raider and its star, Lara Croft. Tomb Raider is a global phenomenon. The video game series has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide and it is the number one selling franchise on PlayStation in Europe and the US. It has also spawned two Hollywood blockbuster movies with Lara Croft making it onto the silver screen in the shape of Angelina Jolie.

MOVING PICTURE COMPANY MOVING ON

ITV is to sell the Moving Picture Company, a provider of special effects for films such as Troy and the Harry Potter series, to Thomson, the French technology group, for more than £50m. The deal has been agreed in principle, but the two sides are still thought to be haggling over an exact price. ITV is in the process of selling non-core assets following its creation through the merger of Carlton and Granada earlier this year. Two months ago it sold its Carlton Books publishing unit for £3m, and last month it sold its 5.5 per cent stake in Thomson for £172m.

JOLIE IN ROW OVER RUSSIAN ADOPTION

Russian politicians have called for new restrictions on adoptions by foreigners after claims that Angelina Jolie, the Hollywood actress, did not follow official procedures when choosing a baby boy. Jolie, 29, who already has an adopted Cambodian son, Maddox, toured several Moscow orphanages last month in search of a child to take home to the United States. She reportedly turned down a number of babies before settling on a seven-month-old boy called Gleb.
