EIDOS PLC INKS DEAL WITH SAPPHIRE TECH
Sapphire Technology Limited - a supplier of ATI-based graphics products - have signed a deal with Eidos that will have the Sapphire Atlantis and Atlantis Pro graphics cards shipped with the newest addition to Eidos' Tomb Raider series. The Granny of Gaming, Lara Croft, will have her new game bundled with Sapphire's ATI Radeon 9600 and 9800 series Atlantis and Atlantis Pro models in an attempt to deliver the ultimate gaming experience, or some other similar malarkey.

JEREMY HEATH SMITH RESIGNS FROM CORE
Eidos development director and Core Design managing director Jeremy Heath-Smith has announced that he is to resign from the boards of both companies with immediate effect. Heath-Smith, who has been with Eidos and Core for seven years, was closely associated with the development of the hugely delayed Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness - which narrowly missed being released in Europe in time for Eidos' financial year end despite a desperate last-minute scramble.

ANGELINA JOLIE ON THE CRADLE OF LIFE
Angelina Jolie, who returns as the title character in the upcoming sequel film Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, told SCI FI Wire that filmmakers wanted to improve on the hit first Tomb Raider and make Croft a more believable person this time around. We wanted to revisit Tomb Raider, because we all had fun with the first [film], but it was hard to go from the game to the first one, and I think we couldn't adjust too much, Jolie said in an interview. With this one, we wanted a more solid story and to adjust [Lara]. We wanted her to be a real flesh-and-blood woman with relationships. There was so much we didn't feel satisfied with in the first one, so I did the second one just because I wanted to finish it right, do it right.
